After months of questioning and speculating about what James Gunn And Peter Safran have plans for DC Studios, they’ve revealed the first slate of film and TV projects in the pipeline, and some of them are pretty exciting!

We already knew that Superman and Batman would have a big role in the new plans and the two announced films with those characters are titled Superman: Legacywhich was written by Gunn, e Batman: The brave and the boldwhich will include both Batman and Robin. Superman: Legacy will be released on July 11, 2025.
Wonder Woman is also getting a new series titled lost paradisewhich will be a game of Thronesstyle series set on the island of Themyscira. It definitely looks interesting, e Gal Gadot he will not reprise his role.
One of the most exciting projects announced, in my opinion, is Swamp thingwhich could end up being directed by Logano‘S James Mangold. I’m a huge fan of Swamp Thing, and with Mangold at the helm, there’s a good chance it’s going to be a great movie!
Other projects in development include a Gold Boosters movie, a Green Lantern titled series Lanternsa film based on The authoritya Supergirl series titled Supergirl: the woman of tomorrowand an animated series written by Gunn titled Commandos creature.
There is also another series in development that will focus on Amanda Waller titled waller, so it’s definitely going to be a very heavy Suicide Squad-themed show. This Waller show was reportedly planned before James Gunn took over, Pacifier Season 2 is still on its way and I guess all the Suicide Squad stuff will be the only thing left before Gunn and Safran take over.
Warner Bros. and DC have been trying to make a Gold Boosters movies for years, and it looks like it will finally happen under the watch of James Gunn. That feels like a very James Gunn kind of movie. All projects do, now we just have to wait and see how these projects turn out!
I’ve included all the details revealed by Gunn and Safran below:
Superman: Legacy:
“This is really the beginning of the DCU. It’s not an origin story. It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing, he is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. It is kindness in a world that considers kindness old-fashioned.
Batman: The Brave and Bold:
“We have our favorite: The Brave and the Bold.”
“So this is the introduction of the DCU Batman, Bruce Wayne, and also the introduction of our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch, murderous killer, who unknowingly assumes, that he is the real son of Batman who he doesn’t know he exists for the first 8-10 years of his life, and he brings in his life and that’s a story. It’s kind of a very weird father son story about the two of them. And it’s based on Grant’s run Morrison on Batman There are a couple of comic book writers who have been exceptionally influential on our stuff and Grant Morrison and Tom King are probably the main two.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow:
“And next is Super Girl Woman of Tomorrow. This is based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year. He is ready for lots of awards. This is a very different kind of Super Girl. In our series, we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time she is an infant versus a super girl who was raised on a rock fragment off the coast of Krypton and has seen everyone around she dying and being killed in horrific ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then she came to earth when she was a little girl and it’s way more hardcore. She’s not exactly the Super Girl we’re used to seeing.”
Lost paradise:
“Paradise Lost is a series, it will be a Game of Thrones-style story about Themyscira, Paradise Island, the home of the Amazons and is also the birthplace of Wonder Woman. This drama is really about the political intrigues behind an all women’s society.
“How did it happen? What is the origin of this, of an island of all women, what are the beautiful truths and ugly truths behind it all? And how are the intrigues between the different power actors in that society. It takes place before Diana was born, so it’s an earlier story of Themyscira.
Gold Boosters:
“This is an absolute fan favorite. It’s about a loser from the future, who uses basic future technology to return to the present and pretend to be a superhero. It’s a series like all other series for HBO Max.
“Booster Gold is imposter syndrome as a superhero”
Lanterns:
“Lanterns is a huge HBO quality television event. It is already under development. And our vision for that is very similar to “True Detective.” It’s terrestrial. It has two of our favorite Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, lead the True Detective-type, mystery-type leads and play a really big part in the main story that we’re telling through our film and television. So this is a very important show for us.”
The authority:
“They’re great Wildstorm characters that have been incredibly popular for a long time. And we’re building that into the DCU and one of the things with the DCU is it’s not just a story of heroes and villains and not every movie and TV show is going to be about the good guy versus the bad guy, giant thing from heaven comes and the good guy wins lad. There are black hats, white hats and gray hats. There are people who are anti-heroes and there are very, questionable people, like the authorities, who basically believe that you can’t fix the world in a simple way, and they sort of take matters into their own hands. They take authority and start doing what they think is the right thing.
creature commands:
“Animation will lead to live action and back to animation. It’s a way to tell giant, huge stories without spending $50 million per episode. Gunn wrote this, it’s done. Creature Commandos consists of military superhumans including a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. Gunn pointed out that Weasel from his Suicide Squad will be on the show. This band of misfits was introduced in Weird War Tales #93 (November 1980), created by JM DeMatteis and Pat Broderick.
Mason:
“We use the same actors, this is a continuation of Peacemaker. I’m working on Superman, so we can’t do Peacemaker Season 2. We’re working on Waller in the meantime,” Gunn told the room. Christal Henry (Watchmen) is writing the show and Jeremy Carver (creator of Doom Patrol). While none of the features are not R-rated, the TV series could become more adult.
swamp thing:
“And then, the last movie we want to mention is Swamp Thing. Because we want to emphasize that these stories, although they are interconnected, are not all totally the same. So each filmmaking group brings their own aesthetic to these films. And the fun is to see how these totally different works come together in the future. Then investigate the dark origins of the swamp thing So totally very different from Superman or Batman or Robin etc. This darker character will interact with mainstream DC characters.
A few rules the duo will abide by in creating their own universe: whoever is cast as the DC TV character will respectively play that character in the film part as well. No actor will play two parts. So, Momoa is Aquaman moving forward, not Lobo.
What do you think of this first list of DC movies under DC Stduos? Which are you most eager to see?
