Showtime Right rebirth Dexter: New blood it will not have a second season. The show was a huge success for the cable network and became one of the most watched series in Showtime history. But, according to TV Line, Showtime won’t be moving forward with a second season.
Don’t worry, though! The franchise will live on as “Showtime — soon to merge with Paramount + — is exploring a number of new iterations of Dexter, including a prequel series focusing on a young version of the titular anti-hero.”
It would certainly be an interesting story to explore, one I would gladly watch as Dexter has a fascinating past. This new series concept isn’t set in stone and there aren’t any details on what aspect of Dexter’s past they would explore, but if it were to happen there’s a fan base here ready to watch it.
It makes sense that they wouldn’t move forward with a second season since Dexter: New Blood ended with the murder of Michael C. Salait’s Dexter Morgan. After that, I never thought we’d get a new season! It seemed like he was going to be the final nail in the coffin for the Dexter series, but… maybe not.
Would you be interested in looking at a Right prequel series?
