It has been announced that Paramount+ and Showtime will merge and rebrand later this year. The merged service will be called Paramount+ with Showtime, and with the change comes some series cancellations.
According to Deadline, shows Showtime has canceled include Demian Bichir’S Let the right one in, Jon Bernthal’S American gigoloand the Shailene Woodleywizard series Three womenwhich has been fully completed. Three women it was purchased by its makers and there was at least one offer on the table to take it back.
Chief Executive Officer Bob Bakish wrote in a staff note on Monday (via THR): “While we are confident this is the right move for our company, our consumers and our partners, we know this change brings uncertainty for the teams working across these brands and activities, we are committed to being as transparent and thoughtful as possible during this process and expect to share more details in the coming weeks.”
Tom Ryan He will reportedly oversee the streaming business while Chris McCarthy will lead the Showtime studio and linear channel.
