The series has grown in viewership since it debuted on HBO Max on Jan. 16. The streaming platform announces that the first chapter accumulates 21 million viewers in the United States alone, more than quadrupling the audience on the first day. The second episode was watched by 5.7 million viewers in the United States on its first day, the highest viewership growth for an HBO original series in its history.

As we said, the second season of the series will adapt ‘The Last of Us: Part II’, a video game released by Naughty Dog in 2020 and which was once again a critical and sales success. Neil Druckmann was once again at the controls of the game, and will do so again in the series with Craig Mazin, creator of ‘Chernobyl’. At the moment they have not given a release date or more details of the second season.
