Will Smith will reportedly reprise his role as the genius in Disney’s ALADDIN 2

After Will SmithThe Oscar slap went down, there were many questions about what the actor’s career was going to look like along the way. Well, according to a recent report, Smith is said to be reprising his role as the Genie at Disney Aladdin 2which means he must be back in Disney’s good graces if this is true.

This would be her first new film role since the Oscar crash. The report states that Smith will play an even bigger role in the development of the sequel. The report reads:

This would be one of the first films Will has done since the slap of the Oscars and that’s quite surprising given that it will be for a children’s film. He’s done a lot of work on himself and the consensus is that it will all be very much in the past when the film comes out. The first film was a huge success, so it would be silly not to make another one, and it would be a real shame to have to re-cast Will for what happened. So Disney is keen to stand by him and bring him back into the fold.

The sequel was officially announced three years ago and Guy Richie he was set to return to direct, but last we heard the film had been stalled. Aladdin actor Mena Massud previously said:

“I don’t know if there’s any movement. There’s been a change with the writers and they’re working on a brand new draft. That’s all I know. If Aladdin 2 happens, that’s great. I think it should happen. Dan Lin and Rideback Productions’ Jonathan Eirich, who made the Lego and Aladdin movies, want to make sure they get it right. So if we see Aladdin 2, it won’t be based on the animated version at all. It’s a new original story.”

It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true. Disney has cut people off in the past for doing and saying stupid shit, so it’s hard to believe they’d work with Smith again, but who knows!? Hollywood is a madhouse! Do you think Disney will actually work with Smith again?
