As every now and then comes a horror gem that has little or nothing to do with blockbusters, or with more independent films, which brings its own ideas, and which experiences the genre as few would dare. That title is called “Skinmarink”, a new horror film that promises to become the new “Blair Witch”.
Just like “The Blair Witch Project” or “Paranormal Activity” marked a milestone in the genre, “skinamarink’ is the horror movie that will fuel your nightmares. It’s a psychological horror story, but something rarely experienced on the big screen. A simple story tape, but effective enough in its goal of making you nervous.
And the comparisons with the aforementioned titles are not accidental, becauseskinamarink’ It was made for just $15,000., and right now it already has more than $1 million at the U.S. box office, which is 66 times what the studio invested in making the film. Which means that right now it is one of the most profitable horror movies, just like the recent ‘Terrifier 2’.
Currently, ‘skinamarink’ It has no release date outside the US., but streaming platform Shudder will release it in its catalog on February 2nd. While, if the phenomenon continues to grow in the coming months, we could see it at any time on some of the hottest services of the moment, such as Amazon Prime Video or HBO Max.

What is Skinamarink all about?
But so far we haven’t talked about what all the fuss is about “Skinamarink”. Well, it’s a psychological horror tape recorded as a fake documentary, in which they simulate real recordings, about “two children who wake up in the middle of the night to find that their father is missing and that all the windows and doors of their house no longer They are,” as the synopsis continues.
With only word of mouth from those who have seen the film before, and a creepy trailer that features no scares, but a terrifying atmosphere that achieves everything its director, Kyle Edward Ball, sets out to do. And although the tape is starting to find commercial and critical success at the different festivals it has attended, unfortunately it has been leaked online. Although thanks to this he managed to become a cult work.
But it must also be said that ‘Skinamarink’ is not for everyone, as there are those who find it quite boring and slow, despite its 100-minute duration. Therefore, you should know that this is an experimental horror movie that doesn’t expect to scare you with jump scares, but to disturb you and chase you home, in your worst nightmares.
