Netflix wanted Zack Snyder to split “Rebel Moon” into two movies

Just a few days ago, ‘Rebel Moon’, the new sci-fi film from ‘Justice League’ director Zack Snyder was given a makeover after his dismissal from Warner Bros. Discovery. Now, it has been revealed that Netflix also had some discussions with the creative and pushed for the story starring Sofia Boutella to be split into two parts.

In an interview with Variety, Netflix’s vice president of original films Ori Marmur explained this they needed Zack Snyder to part ways ‘wayward moon’ in two consecutive parts, because the studio had the confidence to move forward with the director. Marmur admitted that Snyder’s “passion” was what motivated company executives to keep the creative’s plans on track.

The executive of Netflix explains that they wanted to split ‘wayward moon’ because of how “big the world was,” Marmur noted. “We thought it would be better served as a two-piece rather than a film. It’s the kind of story that can keep growing. He thinks of it as her version of doing something like ‘Star Wars.’”

Netflix wants a new Zack Snyder franchise

In December, ‘Rebel Moon’ will premiere, suggesting that it will be Netflix’s biggest release this year. With this, the red giant of streaming intends to transform the story of Zack Snyder into a new franchise, which drinks directly from ‘Star Wars’, and which does not want to be ‘Dune’ by Denis Villeneuve.
