A new series is in development at Hulu titled The second wifewho will play Emma Roberts (Vacation, american horror story) And Tom Ellis (Lucifer, The Great North). The pair will executive produce the series, described as a darkly comedic half-hour, along with the show’s creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer (Tell me lies, Queen America), which will also be showrun.
Roberts executive produced Oppenheimer’s smash hit, Tell me lies, through its Belletrist television banner, and the series also reunites Ellis with Hulu and 20th TV; stars in their upcoming limited series Black Washington.
“Second wife is a romantic comedy about the ups and downs of a blended family. Fresh from a terrible breakup, Sasha (Roberts) leaves her life in New York to make a fresh start in London, where she meets and falls in love with a recently divorced father named Jacob (Ellis). When they impulsively decide to get married, they’ll soon learn that there’s a lot they don’t know about each other and that they can’t escape their past forever. Darkly comic in tone, Second wife it’s an exploration of intimacy, failure, and second chances.
The series marks the first creative collaboration between husband-and-wife duo Ellis and Oppenheimer and draws some parallels to their history.
Everyone in this series is connected in one way or another, which is pretty cool. It’s great that they have found collaborators they trust and love to work with. Sounds like it could be a good story, so we’ll keep you posted on how it develops.
