It has been almost four years since Vin Diesel uploaded to his Instagram page a video in the company of James Cameron on the set of ‘Avatar’, which seemed to guarantee that he would be another member of the Pandora family. While we didn’t see him in “Avatar: The Sense of Water,” it could very well be that his role was in the following sequels, but Empire denies the rumours: Diesel has not and will not participate in the “Avatar” franchise, much to his regret.
“Avatar” series producer Jon Landau, who is also behind “Titanic” and “Alita: Battle Angel,” explains the confusion: “Vin Was a Fan”. And, like any fan who can afford it, “He visited the set one day to see what we were doing and people took it out of context”.
However, those who have seen the video can’t be blamed for misinterpreting the actor’s words, as Diesel almost assured that he would be one of the new additions to the Cameron-led cast. “There’s a person in Hollywood that I’ve always wanted to work with and I’ve always wanted to learn from”he says, referring to the director of the saga. “It all depends on who can wait, I guess”. Also, the ‘Fast & Furious’ star wrote in the description of the video “And the Journey Continues”along with thank you hashtags.
Will they work on another project?
In an interview for mtvnews, a reporter asked Vin Diesel if the rumors were true. Diesel cautiously replied: “I spent time with him [James Cameron]but I haven’t filmed anything yet”. Faced with this last word, the journalist asks him if he will actually participate in the aftermath of ‘Avatar’. After much thought, Diesel says: “I love James Cameron and I love the show. And I think it’s fair to say we’ll be working together.”. This appears to leave the door open for him to be part of a project from the acclaimed director, although considering Cameron is focused on the ‘Avatar’ saga, it seems we won’t see these two professionals’ paths cross in the foreseeable future. Secondly, The tenth installment of “Fast & Furious” is released on May 19thwhile its official trailer is released on February 10th.
