After an absence at the Golden Globes, Brendan Fraser is once again nominated for an Oscar, after winning the statuette of the Critics Choice Awards. The ‘The Mummy’ actor earned recognition in the industry through his appearance on ‘The Whale’, and at this Sunday’s awards ceremony, he brought some tears to the attendees for his emotional speech.

To no one’s surprise, Brendan Fraser won Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards for ‘The whale’, the most recent film directed by Darren Aronofksy, under the production of A24. The film also stars Sadie Sink, who is best known for her role in Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, but it was ‘The Mummy’ actor who garnered all the praise.

During his walk on stage, Brendan Fraser gives an emotional speech at the Critics Choice Awards, which earned industry peers a few tears: “Thank you for this honor, Critic’s Choice Association. It was Herman Melville who once wrote that ‘there are only five critics in America. The others are sleeping.” I am very glad that they woke up for me. This movie, ‘The Whale,’ is about love, about redemption… about finding light in a dark place.”

Finally, Brendan Fraser thanked Darren Aronofksy for ‘The whale’ and to the rest of her classmates: ‘I was in the desert and I probably should have left a trail of bread crumbs, but you found me,’ she told the director. “You just showed me where to go to get where I needed to be.”
