Probably one of the writers who has received the most adaptations of his works is Stephen King, which has given him the reputation of being one of the most important authors in popular culture. But despite his constant adaptations, there are some books that should be brought to the big screen in a film or series, and still haven’t been.
In case it was not clear, some directors such as Stanley Kubrick, John Carpenter, Brian De Palma, David Cronenberg or Frank Darbont dealt with adapt some Stephen King books to the big screen. And some of these were so important that they are still appreciated by lovers of cinema history.

One of Stephen King books that should be adapted The series is “The Picture of Rose Madder”, where the author from Maine tells the story of a woman who was abused by her husband. One day, her wife takes courage and decides to run away from her partner, but the bad news about her is that he is a police officer who can move contacts to find her.

Duma key
In one of the author’s deepest and most complicated accounts, there is “Duma Key”, a Stephen King novel that would be perfect in a film saga to ‘Lord of the Rings’. It’s about Edgar Freemantle, a man who has suffered a divorce and a serious accident, and decides to move to the Florida coast. There he resumes his passion for painting, but the paintings he draws seem to reveal a message to him.

Within the “After Dark” collection, there is one of the best stories of the writer, which would work for a mini-series of suspense and psychological horror. This is ‘N.’, the story of a psychiatrist who takes care of a suicidal patient. After the therapy sessions, he is drawn to a place where a strange phenomenon has occurred which leads him to be the victim of a mysterious threat.
the long march
‘The Long March’ is the first novel written by Stephen King, but not the first to be published, as it was ‘Carrie’, which has already had several adaptations. In this story, we know a dystopia in which a group of boys from different parts of the United States compete in a non-stop walk, in which the winner will demonstrate his physical and mental endurance.

joyland
Finally, one of King’s most recent novels, which has not yet been adapted, is ‘Joyland’, from 2013. It is about Devin Jones, a college boy who has just broken up with his girlfriend, and decides to take a summer work. And as you reflect on your life, this moment will become the most significant in your existence.
