Since we saw Jonathan Majors as the One Who Remains in the first season of “Loki”, his has been one of the most desired returns in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor made a big impact by portraying him in the Disney+ series with Tom Hiddleston and his popularity has only grown ever since. We will see it again February 17th in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, the third installment of the solo franchise starring Paul Rudd, where he plays a variant of that character, which is none other than Kang, one of the most iconic villains in Marvel history.

Kang arrives ready to defeat the great villain of the Infinity Saga, Thanos, inaugurating Phase 5 with ‘Quantumania’, where we will get to know the Conqueror better and know (maybe) what his plans are to dominate the multiverse. If Thanos was a large-scale, ambitious foe, Kang promises to go even further, adding new layers to Marvel’s villains. So Kevin Feige, the creator of the UCM, reveals it to Empire Magazine, in an exclusive report from which, moreover, we get a new official image of Kang.
“It’s the obvious choice when it comes to the Multiverse”Feige tells Empire. “Kang has allowed us to create a new kind of big bad. He’s a different race, as much at war with himself as with our heroes”. “Kang is a very powerful person, but when we meet him, he’s in a position where he needs to get that power back.”continues the producer. “He has a ship and a machine that would allow him to go wherever and whenever he wants, if only he could connect it. If he had a way to access brilliant scientists with Pym particles…”.
The geniuses Feige is referring to are, of course, Scott Lang and his family (Hope Van Dyne, Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Cassie Lang), who in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” they enter the Quantum Realm to embark on an adventure that will take them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. There they will interact with strange new creatures and meet Kang, who will ask for their help to get out of there and carry out his plans. And now, thanks to Feige, we know exactly what that help is.
A long-term process for Jonathan Majors
To play The One Who Remains in ‘Loki’, Majors put his clown training into practice, composing a character that is histrionic, but relatively innocuous compared to what awaits us. To bring Kang to life in “Quantumania” (and subsequent iterations of the character), Majors followed a step-by-step process from Marvel, which he explains as follows: “First I met the ‘Loki’ team. Then Peyton Reed joined us and we talked about the film. He gave me some points of reference: Alexander the Great and stuff like that. Kang adds tonal diversity, conflict and real friction. It introduces a new vibe to the MCU. There is conflict, it’s not a simple confrontation between hero and villain, but one lifestyle against the other. I go for everything. We are at war”.
