In the show, Idris Elba he played DCI John Luther, a near-brilliant homicide detective whose brilliant mind can’t always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions. The fallen sun picks up where the show left off, with Luther in handcuffs and a longtime nemesis turned partner presumed dead, or is it her?

The series was created and written by Neil Crosswho is also behind the script of the upcoming film. Jamie Paynewho directed all four episodes of season five, also directs the film.
The film also stars Cynthia Erivo (Widows, Evil), And Dermot Crowley returns as DSU Martin Schenk. This new story also introduces us to evil millionaire David Robey (Andy Serkis), a man who taps into zeitgeist fears of our spying technology and the potential of the dark web. Robey has dealt with Luther before and been ignored. He now he uses technology as surveillance, uncovering secrets that allow him to manipulate others.
