Giacchino is currently meeting with the writers in hopes of getting the project into production as soon as possible. This seems like a perfect film for Giacchino to take on considering how he’s handled it Werewolf at night and that wicked old-school cinematic style.

In the original film, “While investigating a series of mysterious deaths, Sergeant Ben Peterson finds a young girl who is unable to speak. When Peterson joins forces with FBI agent Robert Graham and scientist Dr. Harold Medford, he discovers that all the accidents are due to giant ants that have been mutated by atomic radiation. Peterson and Graham, with the help of the military, attempt to find the queen ants and destroy the nests before the danger spreads.

Giacchino said in a statement, “There is always a movie in your mind that never leaves your head. For me it’s them! It wasn’t until much later in my life that I discovered what it was all about: the nuclear age. What I love about them! it’s exactly what it’s called: They! It’s about the other, the unknown that you refuse or can’t understand. The current version of Them! talks about immigration and telling a story on the subject through the lens of this crazy sci-fi monster movie,” Giacchino teases about what his initial vision is for the film.

I always loved watching those old sci-fi and horror movies from the 50s and 60s, and they! it’s definitely a favorite! I love Giacchino’s enthusiasm for the film and can’t wait to see what he does with his version of the film! Now I doubt he’ll have style.

Before turning to directing, Giacchino composed films such as Spider-Man: There’s no way back home, Star Trek, The Batman, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and more. Giacchino also intends to score them! the same way he scored Werewolf by Night.
