A new Tweet has revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery has removed more than half of the episodes of Looney Tunes from HBO Max. In the new year, seasons 16-31 of the classic animated series, which account for 256 of the 511 episodes hosted on the streaming platform, were removed by the streamer. This comes on the heels of Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Infinity trainand most of Sesame street episodes also coming to HBO Max.
Fans have made a fuss about the lost content, only for WB to respond by saying they’re only removing content that isn’t viewed often enough to warrant staying.
HBO Max has also reportedly pulled seasons 4-6 of The Flintstones, a long-standing IP that has had bad luck in recent years. A planned second season of the spin-off Yabba Dabba dinosaurs was canceled and the first season was split into two installments, before being permanently pulled from HBO Max in August.
Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly developing a free streaming platform with ads to compete with things like Tubi and the Roku Channel. Don’t be surprised if Looney Tunes, Flintstonesand other iconic IPs find their way there.
