This is how “The Whale” must have been before the arrival of Brendan Fraser and Darren Aronofksy

Now that ‘The Whale’ is just weeks away from hitting theaters where it hasn’t been released outside the US, it’s a good time to recall the beginning of the story. The film A24 initially did not have Darren Aronofksy as director, nor Brendan Fraser as the lead, much of the appeal and interest that the film generated.

In their screenings from different festivals, Darren Aronofksy and Brendan Fraser were acclaimed ‘The whale’, the A24 film adapting the work of Samuel D. Hunter. In the plot we meet Charlie, a teacher who suffers from obesity and who is trying to reconcile with her daughter, played by Sadie Sink, best known for her role as Max in Netflix’s “Stranger Things”.

However, before Brendan Fraser and Darren Aronofksy agreed to join the project, James Corden and Tom Ford should have attended ‘The whale’. This was confessed by the host during a Q&A session for the Amazon series, ‘Mammals’ (via Deadline). “I was going to play that part and Tom Ford was going to direct,” Corden said.

In the end, ‘The whale’ with Tom Ford it didn’t happen because the director of ‘Nocturnal Animals’ “wanted more complete control of the project”. Finally, James Corden says he now believes it was the best decision to leave the role of Charlie, since he was “too young to do it justice”, and has dropped out of the project, so Brendan Fraser and Darren Aronofksy are left with he.

The story of “The Whale” would have been very different

Corden also confessed during the session that, at one point in the project, George Clooney was also brought in to direct “The Whale.” However, the actor and director wanted to find a real 600-pound man to get the role of Charlie. Which complicated everything for the production, during the short amount of time on tape.

Finally, Corden said he spoke to Aronofksy about it and confirmed all the data and names that have been involved with “The Whale” at one point. However, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Brendan Fraser, who made such an impact on the film, for his wonderful and heartfelt performance, which already puts him among the Oscar favorites.

At present, ‘The Whale’ has already been released internationally, however, a release date is awaited in Mexico and Latin America. Speculations say that they will arrive in January 2023, so it will only take a few weeks to see this acclaimed and anticipated film.
