In a recent interview with Collider, the star of the show Diego Luna shared that just because Cassian passed a challenge, it doesn’t mean he’s perfect or immune to weakness, saying, “I mean, weaknesses show even in A rogue one. It never ends.” He went on to focus more specifically on where that turning point was for Cassian, saying:

“[I] think what happens even after prison and in the next episodes is that he really understands what he’s fighting against. He understands the need [for] a revolution because he understands what oppression basically means and how little freedom he has and how unfair the world he lives in is. But he still has a lot to learn in terms of teamwork.”

Luna also shared the differences between Season 1 and where Cassian is headed in Season 2 as he evolves into the man he is. A rogue onenoting:

“I think in Season 1 we see him trying to survive and that he’s not necessarily being a part of something. He’s reacting to that. But now, yeah, he has to learn a lot from Luthen and from others, from other experiences, other events to be that person.” where we meet A rogue one.”

It also emphasizes that to get to whoever is A rogue one, will have to undergo a great transformation, both personally and within the rebellion. He went on to say:

“The responsibility he takes on at the start of Rogue One is enormous. Imagine what has to happen to someone to say they are the right person to do it. Cassian Andor will be the person we will trust. There is so much to discover for him and a big transformation coming. It’s really far from that. The one in episode 12, it’s so far from that, but the spark is there. There is an awakening and it happened. Now we have to witness four years of the life of this man”.

Can’t wait for the second season of Andor?
