Director Shawn Levi is responsible for some pretty great comedies, family films, and captivating series over the years like just Married, Night at the Museum, Date night, Free boyand Stranger things. Its imminent Deadpool 3which will be his first in the franchise, will be his hardest R aside from his dark 2014 family comedy-drama, This is where I leave you. But it’s not for lack of trying.

Levy directed the 2013 comedy The stagehero Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, while two “salespeople whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital age find their way into a coveted internship at Google, where they must compete with a group of tech-savvy young geniuses for employment.” It turns out this movie was a struggle for Levy with the studios. He recently sat down with Collider to talk about Deadpool 3and talked about the appearance of The stage which ended up being his biggest regret of his career:
“One of the few regrets of my career is that I was forced to re-cut The Internship from R to PG-13. I still regret it because Vince’s R-rated version [Vaughn] and Owen [Wilson] in “The Internship” it was much better. And today’s me wouldn’t have cracked like the 20-whatever me 12 years ago.
It seems that with so many other films under his belt, Levy is better equipped to make exactly the films he sets out to make. He also provided an update on Deadpool 3said:
“We’re writing, rewriting, developing, preparing ‘Deadpool’ every day now. It’s so much fun to laugh every day. It’s so delightful to listen to, write and invent these scenes where people speak badly. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it’s just a ‘Deadpool’ movie. And Logan is inside. And it contains Wolverine. It is too funny. I’m having so much fun and I haven’t gotten to the shooting plan yet. […] I have to say developing a “Deadpool” movie is one of the most enjoyable creative experiences of my life because it’s not just because it’s R-rated. It’s because it’s so full of self-awareness and that makes writing very, very fun in a way that is unique to that franchise.
I look forward! I love the Dead Pool movie, and I think Levy is a perfect match to tackle the next story in the franchise.
