SPOILER WARNING
*This article is about one of the highlights from the latest episode of ‘The Witcher: Origin of Blood’.
‘The Witcher: The Origin of Blood’, the prequel to ‘The Witcher’ set 1,200 years before the main series, is now available on Netflix, but the large time difference hasn’t stopped the spin-off from being linked somewhere way with the central project of this universe. Among the various revelations about this saga, there is one in particular that directly concerns the two protagonists of ‘The Witcher’, Geralt de Rivia and Ciriof which we discovered a surprising relationship between them thanks to ‘The origin of blood’.

The great connection between Geralt and Ciri that the final episode of the “The Witcher” prequel reveals to us is that both characters may be related. In this chapter we discover that Eile (Sophia Brown) is pregnant by Fjall (Laurence O’Fuarain), who before conceiving the child undergoes the Grass Test and becomes the first sorcerer in history, therefore his descendant could have wizard genes and elf. Ithlinne (Ella Schrey-Yeats) touches the mother-to-be’s belly and recites a prophecy about the child’s fate: “The lark’s seed will produce the first note of a song that will end forever and one of its blood will sing the last” says Ithlinne, referring to what could be Ciri and the Old Blood she possesses, the source of her magic. Thus, the child could be Ciri’s ancestor and part of her family tree, family ties that in turn are related to witches, as this creature to be born has first blood and the genes of a witch that never existed when inherited by his father, Fjall.
While this is unofficial and ‘The Witcher’ team has not commented, Eile’s pregnancy, prophecy and Fjall’s conversion into a witch may indicate that Ciri and Geralt, also a witch, are part of the same family tree , both upon it by the son of Eile and Fjall. This doesn’t necessarily mean that both characters are direct relatives, but it does mean that the origin of their blood is the same, that it comes from the same being.
Will they address this connection in “The Witcher”?
With Season 2 of “The Witcher” finished, neither Geralt nor Ciri are aware of the blood they may share. From the third season, the last starring Henry Cavill as Geralt before being replaced by Liam Hemsworthwe still know very little, but it would be interesting to address or give clues about the relationship that seems to unite them.
‘The Witcher’ and ‘The Witcher: Origin of Blood’ are available on Netflix.
