Deadpool 3: Hugh Jackman Says Wolverine And Deadpool Hate Each Other In New Movie

‘Deadpool 3’ is already one of the most anticipated films of 2024 and we haven’t even finished 2022. Although filming hasn’t even started (it will be in May), Hugh Jackman has already teased a bit what awaits us in an interview with ComicBook via The Empire Film Podcast. According to the actor, who was asked about the relationship between his character and that of Ryan Reynolds, Wolverine and Deadpool hate each other: “How do I rate it? Ten is being very close friends, zero is reality, we are zero, we are opposites, we hate each other. I speak from my point of view, a [Logan] frustrates him, wants to be thousands of miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, you can’t be thousands of miles away from him in this movie, so I’ll probably be hitting him over the head a lot.”

We don’t have an official storyline for “Deadpool 3”, although Reynolds joked that it’s a ‘Rashomon’-esque road movie with Wolverine and Deadpool, a film in which the same story is told from the point of view of different characters. What we do know is that Shawn Levy (‘Free Guy) will helm the direction and that the script will once again be done by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Reynolds himself, although Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin (‘Bob’s Burgers ‘) were hired for this job in November 2020.

Is it just this once or is it back to stay?

‘Deadpool 3’ will be his return to the character of Wolverine, which he has played in at least 9 films since ‘X-Men’, and from which he said goodbye in ‘Logan’ in 2017. It seemed that this moment would never come and that the retirement has been final and Jackman fans are wondering if this is a one-off or if he will re-embrace the superhero in a new phase, now that he can officially be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I imagine each film as one and that’s it, that’s how I see it”jackman said, “I’ll be honest, they originally gave me a two-picture deal, but I still thought it was just one. You know there were no comic book movies back then, so I only watch them one at a time. I’m lucky like this, I don’t have to think further, I think it’s the best way to do it.”

And how will he get back if his story has already been told? Jackman explained that what we knew as canon in “Logan” will not be altered and that it is thanks “to this device they have in the world of Marvel to move through the timelines, now we can go back because, you know, it’s science, so I don’t have to fuck with the ‘Logan’ timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably for the fans too.” Deadpool 3 is scheduled to premiere on November 8, 2024.
