Doctor Jose Manuel Felices lists high blood pressure signs

Doctor Jose Manuel Felices has warned that three specific symptoms can indicate high blood pressure, sharing his medical advice with publication Men's Health.

Felices stated that a throbbing headache serves as the primary symptom of elevated blood pressure. He added that a sudden worsening of vision or an experience of blurriness represents the second key sign.

According to the specialist, the third symptom is ringing in the ears. Felices noted that patients typically write off tinnitus as a reaction to everyday stress rather than suspecting a rise in blood pressure.

Ringing in the ears and visual disturbances can develop when elevated arterial pressure impacts the delicate microvascular networks supplying the eyes and inner ear structures. Tinnitus often occurs when blood flow through vessels near the auditory system becomes turbulent under high pressure.

Dangers of unrecognized hypertension

Felices warned that many people completely ignore these three warning signs when they appear. He explained that young people are particularly vulnerable to missing the indicators because they are generally not accustomed to measuring their blood pressure on a regular basis.

The physician added that hypertension quietly destroys physical health over time, cautioning that the condition is frequently referred to as a silent killer for this reason.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a chronic medical condition where the force of circulating blood against artery walls remains consistently elevated above standard baseline levels of 120 over 80 millimeters of mercury. Blood pressure readings record systolic pressure as the heart beats and diastolic pressure as it rests between beats. When pressure stays high without intervention, it places persistent stress on blood vessels, increasing the long term risk of heart attacks, strokes and organ damage.

Dietary habits for cardiovascular protection

The guidance on blood pressure symptoms follows earlier advice regarding cardiovascular health from cardiologist Michelle Routhenstein. Routhenstein previously named green tea as the most beneficial morning beverage for supporting overall heart health.

To reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular pathologies, Routhenstein advised individuals to drink green tea shortly after waking up in the morning.

Green tea contains natural plant compounds known as catechins and polyphenols, including epigallocatechin gallate, which are widely recognized in nutritional science for supporting blood vessel elasticity and healthy circulation. Men's Health, which published the expert advice, is an international magazine covering wellness, exercise, nutrition and preventative medicine.
