Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2, the second film in the trilogy closing out the story of Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, may have already given fans a clue about when it will arrive, based on comments from Crunchyroll and a promotional video released by animation studio Ufotable.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2025, Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini said that neither Aniplex nor Ufotable had set dates for the trilogy's remaining installments. He also acknowledged there could be some urgency to deliver more Demon Slayer content to fans.
A promotional video from Ufotable ruled out a 2026 release for Infinity Castle Part 2, making 2027 the most likely release window. Crunchyroll and the film's producers confirmed the second installment is actively in production, supporting that timeline.
Trilogy's final film expected in 2029
The third and final film in the trilogy is expected to arrive in 2029 to close the story completely. Given the high level of animation detail Ufotable applies to its work, that would leave a two-year gap between each of the three releases.
The first film, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, premiered in 2025 and was a major success in theaters, showing the anime remains hugely popular.
Overtaking Dragon Ball
The franchise has become one of the most important in the anime industry. With Dragon Ball on a long hiatus, Tanjiro, Inosuke, Muzan and the rest of the Demon Slayer cast have overtaken it to become one of the most watched series at the moment.
