Russian actor Daniil Vorobyov has filed a lawsuit against his former partner Marina to demand child support payments for the maintenance of their shared daughter.
The legal proceedings were revealed by lawyer Margarita Gavrilova, who is representing Marina in the custody clash. The couple were never officially married, but they had lived together for six years prior to their separation.
Vorobyov is a prominent Russian television and film actor who has appeared in numerous domestic drama series and feature films. Gavrilova indicated that the dispute between the former couple intensified following a recent holiday trip.
According to Gavrilova, Vorobyov flew on vacation with his daughter and left his mobile phone behind at home. Marina subsequently went through the device and discovered what the lawyer described as revelations that broke her heart.
Upon discovering that his former partner had examined his phone, Vorobyov took legal action against her under Russian criminal law. He filed complaints under Articles 137, 138 and 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which address privacy violations, breach of communications confidentiality, and illegal access to computer information.
Legal action following vacation phone discovery
Gavrilova spoke out against the criminal filings, stating that she did not understand using such methods against the mother of his child. She added that Marina was positioned in a knowingly weaker social and media standing compared to the actor.
Prior to Vorobyov's legal filings, Marina had already submitted her own court application to determine the child's place of residence with herself and to request official child support payments.
Because Vorobyov is registered at his former partner's apartment, the court initially granted an in absentia decision determining that the daughter would reside with her mother.
Following that ruling, the actor launched a counterclaim requesting that the court order the girl to live with her father instead, while requiring Marina to pay child support to him for the daughter's maintenance.
Counterclaims and financial debt allegations
Gavrilova expressed dismay over the escalation, describing the situation as sad and unpleasant. She claimed that, according to Marina, the sought-after actor owes around five million rubles in back alimony payments.
In Russian jurisprudence, child custody and support disputes are adjudicated in civil courts, whereas claims involving personal data and privacy fall under specific criminal statutes. Articles 137, 138 and 272 cover unauthorized collection of personal information, secrecy of phone and digital correspondence, and computer system breaches.
The case comes amid public attention on parental support disputes in the Russian cultural sector. Actress Olga Zueva previously stated that actor and director Danila Kozlovsky had not seen their six-year-old daughter Oda Valentina for six months, noting that his last financial payment for the child was made on June 4.
