The feature film Coyote Vs Acme starring John Cena will officially open in Russian cinemas on September 10 after film distribution company Caro Premiere secured official theatrical distribution rights for the country.
Caro Premiere announced the upcoming release date and unveiled a localized promotional poster to mark the official theatrical launch. The project combines live-action performances with animated elements to bring the classic cartoon universe to the big screen.
The story follows Wile E. Coyote, the iconic character from the Looney Tunes cartoons, as he takes legal action against the Acme Corporation. In the film, the central character decides to sue the fictional company after it repeatedly supplies him with faulty equipment and defective tools during his endless pursuit of the Road Runner.
Cast and Creative Team
Wrestler turned actor John Cena leads the live cast alongside Lana Condor and Will Forte. Cena previously starred in the superhero television series Peacemaker, while Condor is best known for her role in Alita Battle Angel and Forte starred in the comedy drama Nebraska.
Dave Green directed the picture. Green previously directed the 2016 action sequel film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows.
Background and Franchise History
The character of Wile E. Coyote first appeared in Warner Bros animated shorts in 1949, created by animation director Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese. Throughout dozens of cartoon episodes, the coyote continuously attempts to catch the ultra-fast Road Runner using elaborate gadgets purchased from the fictional Acme Corporation, which invariably fail or backfire on him.
Moscow-based film distributor Caro Premiere has long operated as a major cinematic distribution company in Russia, handling major international releases for domestic audiences. Russian filmgoers will be able to view the localized version of the picture when it arrives in theaters nationwide on September 10.
