Coyote vs. Acme made its global premiere on August 28 following a long public campaign that rescued the Looney Tunes movie from cancellation.
The film was completed in 2023, but studio distributor Warner Bros. initially chose to shelve the project entirely. That decision triggered widespread public protests from movie fans and filmmakers, leading the studio to put the distribution rights up for sale. Independent studio Ketchup Entertainment later acquired the rights to bring the picture to theaters worldwide.
In a social media post celebrating the premiere, director Dave Green described the theatrical release as a shared victory for the audience and the creative team who campaigned for the project. He stated that the arrival of the movie in cinemas meant everyone involved had won, allowing people to gather in dark auditoriums and laugh alongside strangers.
Green praised the actors, crew, pre-production, post-production, and animation teams for dedicating years of love and passion to the feature. He added that the moment would forever remain in the memory of the devoted fans whose persistent efforts saved the film and brought it to the big screen.
Courtroom battle against Acme
The storyline centers on Wile E. Coyote as he launches a legal battle against the evil Acme Corporation. The iconic cartoon character takes the manufacturing company to court after receiving an endless supply of defective tools and faulty equipment during his attempts to capture the Road Runner.
Hollywood actor John Cena, who starred in the television series Peacemaker, leads the live-action cast. The movie also features Lana Condor, known for her starring role in Alita: Battle Angel, and Nebraska actor Will Forte.
Studio distribution and international release

Following its initial international rollout, Coyote vs. Acme will officially open in movie theaters across Russia on September 10.
