Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of rock band The Pretenders, has asked fans for help after her five-year-old Jack Russell cross dog Nico went missing. The 74-year-old musician revealed in an Instagram post on Thursday that she is heartbroken and fears the animal may have been kidnapped.

Nico was last seen in Silkstream park in Colindale, London, two weeks ago. Hynde asked anyone who sees the dog to approach carefully and avoid chasing her because she might be nervous after two weeks on the run.

Sharing a photo of Nico on Instagram, Hynde wrote: "I've lost my dog, Nico. She is very dear to me and I am absolutely heartbroken."

"She was last seen in Silkstream park in Colindale London. If you see her, can you let me know?" Hynde added. "I realise she could be anywhere in the country now if she got into someone's car or if someone has taken her away somehow."

Hynde also asked her followers to share any details about the animal's whereabouts. "Please don't chase her as she might be very nervous having been on the run now for two weeks. If you know anything about her whereabouts can you let me know?" she wrote.

Search for Missing Dog

In a further post on Thursday, Hynde asked: "Can anyone in Great Britain tell me of the whereabouts of my little dog Nico?" She added that CHHQ will be monitoring comments and message requests for any information.

The musician expressed concern over what may have happened to Nico since her disappearance. "I don't know if someone has fallen in love with her and is harbourIng her in their home?" she wrote. "Or maybe someone has grabbed her and using her for some malicious purpose..? Or maybe she's been knocked over by a car and is lying in a bush, dying."

She urged anyone with information to get in touch, writing: "Please, please please, if anyone has seen her at all, can you let me know?Hugs, Chrissie."

The musician said in a further post on Thursday: 'Can anyone in Great Britain tell me of the whereabouts of my little dog Nico?'



The Pretenders Background

Hynde is best known for creating rock band The Pretenders in 1978 and serves as the group's lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. The Grammy-nominated group is famous for hits including Brass In Pocket, Talk Of The Town and Don't Get Me Wrong.

The group's current line-up features Hynde alongside drummers Martin Chambers and Kris Sonne and guitarist James Walbourne.
