CODA and Succession were among the winners of the 2022 Writers Guild Awards, held in a virtual ceremony on Sunday.
Ted Lasso and 36-year-old writer of A Black Lady Sketch Show Ashley Nicole Black hosted the event, which also included the awards of Dick Cavett and Barry Jenkins.
CODA, written and directed by Sian Heder, won the Adapted Screenplay Award.

Dog Power and The Lost Daughter, both of which were nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, were ineligible under Writers Guild rules.
The feat garnered accolades in the drama category and won writers Jesse Armstrong, Jon Brown, Jamie Carragher, Ted Cohen, Francesca Gardiner, Lucy Prebble, Georgia Pritchett, Tony Roche, Susan Soon He Stanton and Will Tracy.
Starring Brian Cox, Succession won an award in the Drama Series category and in the Episodic Drama category for The Idaho Retired Keepers episode.

Netflix Waitress won the award for Adapted Long Form inspired by the book by Stephanie Land and written by Bekah Brunstetter, Marcus Gardley, Michelle Denise Jackson, Colin McKenna, and Molly Smith Metzler.

In the Comedy / Variety Special category, TBS’s Full Frontal Wants Your Guns was declared the winner. In the Documentary Screenplay – Current Affairs category, PBS’ The Healthcare Divide, written by Rick Young, was declared the winner.
For the on-air promotion, Trailers for Celebrating Strong Female Candidates: The Equalizer & Why Women Kill by CBS’s Molly Neylan won the category.
