The musician also complained that taking care of himself over the years didn’t seem to make a difference against cancer. “I’ve been someone who takes a lot of pride in being fit and taking care of himself,” Tim admitted. “But it’s something you get lucky with or not.”

According to the release, his girlfriend and his children. Javier20, and quentin, 18, supported me against the disease. And, she explained, finding out she had cancer was a process, too. “Now I’m in the situation I’m in, which holds my breath for six months,” she told the agency. “It’s not good and it doesn’t make me happy. I’m just trying to take the reins. It will be a long journey, I hope. My father died of cancer at the age of 70 and my mother died of cancer at the age of 40. Divide the difference by 65 and I’m 10 years old. I’m trying to hit the 100 song mark. I have goals right now. Composing has become a catharsis for me. Going back to the original question, how do I find the time? That’s all I have is time.”

On an even more personal level, Tim, who has been with the band since its inception in 1991, revealed why it’s been a psychologically difficult journey. “Prostate cancer is very, very, very difficult because it’s related to your sexuality,” he said in the interview. “It’s hard to disconnect from that and when you’re forced into that situation, it’s a brutal psychological journey. I’ve been trying to find support groups and it’s hard to find people and talk about them.”

The showgirl, however, is finding a way to be optimistic. “It may not sound like much, but starting a conversation without choking or getting emotional is a win for me,” she said in part. “It’s a small victory.”
