Letizia surrenders to Varela and recycles her most groundbreaking haute couture dress

Last night, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia chaired the 39th edition of the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Award, which has finally taken off its mask after two years. On this occasion, the prize has passed into the hands of the journalist Pilar Bonet, who dedicated it to the reporters covering the war in Ukraine: “I want to pay tribute to the journalists who risk their lives at the front and also to those who are in Russia, that they do not risk their lives, but that they manage to pass on real information and that they do not fall for the admiration of the regime or censorship. Those who slide through that narrow channel, on a tightrope. Without it we are nothing,” the veteran journalist explained very excitedly.

King Felipe VI has praised Bonet’s professional work, highlighting the “rigor”, “attention” and “understanding” as essential qualities that have defined “the meticulous work” of the journalist, allowing “she has built a solid trajectory” with which he has succeeded in “bringing an unknown and distant reality closer to Spanish society”, such as Russia. The Queen Letizia enjoyed one of her favorite quotes, probably recalling the years when he devoted himself entirely to his career as a journalist. The royal listened attentively to the journalist’s words and those of her husband, which she observed with deep admiration.

Doña Letizia recycled one of her designs from Felipe Varela that you have in your wardrobe. It is a dress that premiered at the Princess of Asturias Awards 2018, a midi design, with short sleeves, made in brocade patchwork and hand embroidery in wire, glass and midnight blue, sky blue, slate and nude metal. As for the accessories, she has opted for black Prada double-soled pumps to make them more comfortable, probably in an effort to ease the pain of her metatarsal bones. It should be remembered that Don Felipe’s wife suffers from this chronic injury and it causes severe localized pain in the front part of the foot, especially the sole. It is a common condition among women, especially if they wear heels on a daily basis.

The frost has completed it looks like with a black satchel, also by Felipe Varela. As for jewelry, she has worn black earrings signed by Grisogno and her inseparable ring by Karen Hallam. On this occasion, Doña Letizia has chosen to wear her hair loose and sleek, gathered behind the ear, making her earrings more visible. He opted for makeup mark his gaze with a black eyeliner, shades in nude shades and mascara. She added blush, highlighter and a natural lip tint with a glossy finish. A perfect makeup for an evening event.

Since the 2007 Cerecedo Award, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have not missed this annual event. For its part, the prize has been awarded since 1983 in honor of the journalist Francisco Cerecedo. It is awarded to those people who have distinguished themselves through their journalistic or outreach work, especially those who succeed in transmitting original work and avoiding pressure from government agencies in defense of freedom of expression. The Cerecedo Prize is convened by the Association of European Journalists in Spain and awards 24,000 euros, which in previous years went to professionals such as Javier Cercas, Vicente Vallés or Anne Applebaum. Tonight’s event took place at the Palace Hotel in Madrid, and This year’s jury was chaired by Fernando Ónega and integrated by Íñigo Alfonso, Rubén Amón, Ángeles Blanco and Montserrat Domínguez, among others. The Queen’s styling has once again managed to catch all eyes, just as her discreet hairstyle did a few days ago. Doña Letizia cleaned her hair and decided to trim the ends slightly, although she’s still betting on the medium length she wears today.
