Vladimir Etush was considered from the very beginning for the role of Comrade Saakhov in the comedy “Prisoner of the Caucasus”. But for one reason, the artist was willing to turn down a tempting offer.
As it turned out, Etush didn’t want to play the “southern man” at all. He already had a similar role, so the actor was afraid that this image would stick with him, and he would not be able to get rid of it. Such cases often occurred among stars who had been called to play the same type all their lives.
Director Leonid Gaidai managed to persuade the artist to come to the audition. In the end, Etush agreed to play in a comedy, and this role became one of the most famous of his career. The ADME portal tells about it.
