Furniture restorer Jay Blades may have replaced 007 in the love interest of legendary actress Dame Judi Dench.
Dench, who played the role of the MI6 M boss in seven Bond films, developed a passion for the 52-year-old TV presenter Blades after meeting him while appearing in a repair shop sketch for Comic Relief in March.
The actress (below) says: “I collect teddy bears – there are about 200 of them – and they had one that they just fixed at the shop . . . and I said, ‘Oh that bear!’ And then we talked about that.

“They made me a new one and it came a few weeks later. And that’s a real growl!
“All my plush animals have names, and of course I gave it a name. His name is JB After Jay Blades. He is truly an extraordinary man.
Comedians Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders were also featured in the skit, and the couple failed to see Dench’s admiration. French said of Judi’s “Oh, it stole my beating heart!” remembers what he said.
Dame Judi has been happy with environmentalist David Mills for 12 years.

Love Interest: The Repair Shop star Jay Blades caught Judi’s attention after filming together for Comic Relief in March
But in March, when she confessed to being in love with Jay, it was first revealed that her partner was in fierce competition for his affections.
The two met while filming a skit for Red Nose Day with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, whose characters were re-enacting The Extras.
The sketch saw Jennifer and Dawn turn into alter egos as they try to get free repairs from The Repair Shop team.
But foreman Jay can’t wait to meet the couple and sends them to collect.
Regarding the charity special, Dawn said: “I don’t think we said no to Comic Relief because it’s so important and it comes from our community and we’ve been there all along.

“I know money is well spent and I know there are projects that require us to move forward, and I never want to disappoint anyone.
“I think the more we do to encourage and support, the better!”
Jennifer added: “While I was watching The Repair Shop, I thought that these characters would just walk into The Repair Shop or pretend I was fixing something with Dawn or impersonating the characters.
“You know, I thought, this is a show for us.
“Then Comic Relief said that we have The Repair Shop and it’s a great thing. It was so perfect!’
Jay admitted that French and Saunders’ performance at the barn for the skit, which aired on this year’s Comic Relief Night television show, was a “true feast” for fans.
‘I can’t believe the chaos these two have caused!
“We’re always surprised by what we see in the barn but believe me, we’ve never seen anything like it in the barn – you have to see it to see how much fun it is.
“A real treat for fans of the show!”
