Declan Donnelly has confirmed the birth of his second child, a baby boy, with his wife, Ali Astall, just two weeks after his brother’s sudden death.
The TV host confirmed the surprise birth in an Instagram post she shared with her followers on Sunday night, revealing that she named the baby Jack Anthony Alphonsus.
The newborn’s name is partly a tribute to Dec’s longtime host, Ant McPartlin, and his Northern Irish father, Alphonsus Donnelly, who died in 2011 after battling cancer.
The news of his birth comes as the 46-year-old TV personality mourns the death of his Roman Catholic priest brother Dermott following his unexpected death on July 8 at the age of 55.

The good news: Declan Donnelly confirmed the birth of his second son, son, with wife Ali Astall, just two weeks after the sudden death of his older brother.
Dec, who is also raising his three-year-old daughter Isla with his wife, wrote on his social media account: “23.07.2022, Ali and I have welcomed the arrival of our son, Jack Anthony. Alphonsus as a very welcome bright spot.
“She’s amazing and Isla is so excited to be an older sister.”
Dec accompanied the message with a photo of his newborn son’s tiny hand gripping his finger.
Speculation abounded when Ali lost the Bafta TV Awards in May of this year.
Ali’s absence was notable when Ant’s wife, Anne-Marie Corbett, joined the duo Geordie for the glittering ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, where they won the Best Entertainment Show award for Saturday Night Takeaway.
Instead, a comfortably dressed 43-year-old Ali spent the weekend doing odd jobs near their home in Chiswick, west London. The Daily Mail said: It looked like she might be pregnant.
Dec and Ali first became parents in 2018 and welcomed their daughter, Isla Elizabeth Anne, into the world in August of the same year.

Ant and Dec’s official Twitter page confirmed the exciting news of the era with a sweet photo of their newborn daughter gently holding the hand of her proud father.
An accompanying headline read: “Ali and I are delighted to announce the arrival of our little girl, Isla Elizabeth Anne, who was born shortly after 9am. Mom and daughter are fine, dad is crazy! Right
Dec talked about how fatherhood changed his life in 2018 after marrying his former manager Ali in 2015.
“Being a father completely changed me,” he said December 46. “I felt a love that I didn’t know was possible to feel. Everything I do every day is for my daughter now.’

Beware: Declan Donnelly, 46, will rest his beloved brother at a funeral next Friday before leaving to shoot I’m A Celebrity (pictured in May).
Dec will bury his brother, who ran alongside Father Dermott Donnelly, who passed away earlier this month, at a funeral next Friday.
The priest’s death was later confirmed by the bishop of Hexham and Newcastle.
Friends and family of Father Donnelly, who has died aged 55, will gather in Newcastle next week to greet and pay their respects.

The sad news: The TV star was right next to her father, Dermott Donnelly, after she passed out earlier this month, but the priest later died of a serious illness (pictured by Father Dermott in 2015).
According to the Mirror, December will have priests and clergy from the northeastern part of England where Dermott has served in the Catholic Church, in addition to loved ones from his parents’ native Ireland.
The Donnelly family said in a statement: “Due to space constraints, those wishing to attend the Mass of Requiem on Friday, July 29, are invited to St. We want to encourage gathering at St. Michael’s Church.
The ritual will be broadcast live and Holy Communion will be made available. After the service, Father Dermott’s procession will pass by the church of San Michele for those who wish to pay their respects.

Father Dermott has been hospitalized after a series of illnesses and his body will be admitted to St Michael’s, Newcastle, on Thursday.

An insider had previously disclosed: Sun of Dec hosts Ant and half of Dec had returned to northeastern England to join Father Dermott’s bedside family.
They described the priest’s loved ones who prayed for his “survival” after being “extremely ill” in the hospital.
The source said, “December came with other family members. There are about twelve in the hospital.
Father Dermott directed Ali Astall’s wedding in December 2015 for a star-studded guest list that included the star’s TV friend Ant McPartlin and presenter Dermot O’Leary.
The Durham pastor was also recently photographed outside 10 Downing Street after being invited by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to join religious leaders in Ukraine praying for peace.
