People commonly talk about the ridicule made by the Amazon Prime Video superhero series, the Marvel or DC cinematic universes, and a little bit by big corporations too. But little is said about a character from “The Boys” with whom the series parodies ourselves.

And it’s not about Homelander, Butcher, Soldier Boy or Hughie, This is Todd, the stepfather of Mother’s Milk’s biological daughter or Mother’s Milk, and which is played by Matthew Gorman. A completely secondary character in the Amazon Prime Video series, but who has a very clear goal within “The Boys”.

In the third season of ‘The boys’, we know more about Todd, who until now had presented himself as a stepfather worried about his stepdaughter, even when there were things that Maternal Milk (Laz Alonso) didn’t like at all. But that, in her shell, she hides a mirror of the audience.

It is ultimately revealed that Todd is a supporter of the Vought’s Supers, most notably Homelander, when he brings little Janine to the event where the leader of the Seven will perform, ending in a major collapse of the Patriots. Reason enough for Maternal Milk to confront him for exposing her daughter to danger.

Todd is the real villain of “The Boys”

But for most fans of the series, Todd became the real villain of ‘The boys’, when, at the end of the third season, Matthew Gorman’s character attends the demonstration against Homelander, who makes a startling appearance to introduce Ryan to the World.

That’s when Homelander finally breaks free, kills a protester with his lasers, and shows himself to the world for what he is, a dangerous sociopath. But this, far from arousing fear among the population and its followers, causes the applause and the withdrawal of the participants, the first of them, Todd, who rejoices at the feat of the villain.

It is precisely at that moment that Todd becomes one of the most hated characters in ‘The Boys’, and which gives rise to Homelander by freeing himself from the chains that limit him, and being able to carry out other atrocities without control. And that’s when the series makes fun of ourselves.

Todd’s character is a person who supports the propaganda of the Supes in the media, with which these superhumans can continue to be kept as a necessity among the population, and the excuse for Vought to find sufficient reasons for superheroes to become a weapon for the United States government.

That is, the fuel for the US government to continue to support the use of weapons and the power of its military in real life. And by “Todd is a parody of ourselves”, I mean that this character is all despicable in an average person, who consumes the media without questioning anything.
