“Not my level”: Alibasov, who underestimated Shatunov, repented

The producer still regrets his act.

For Bari Alibasov, the producer’s instincts did not always work well.

For this, the scandalous musician has yet to convert. He missed two pop stars – Yuri Shatunov and Viktor Tsoi, who once wanted to collaborate with the Integral group, founded by Alibasov in 1962. But the producer did not see the talent of the singers and ruthlessly refused both.

“Razin, who started with me as a loader and had become an administrator, brought Shatunov to me. He says let’s get him. He has a song that the whole country is singing. But I’m not crazy to spin the street kid from the gate. Then it seemed to me that this was not my level and size. It never occurred to me then that a childish nagging performance would become super popular!” Alibasov said in an interview for the Sobesednik publication.

The short-sighted producer still regrets his actions. He admits that the refusal of these artists is the biggest mistake of his life.

“We talked to him for a long time. [Цоем]† Such a clearly Korean performer, as it seemed to me at the time, would not interest the Russian public much. These are two big mistakes in my life – Tsoi and Shatunov, “Alibasov converted.

By the way, the legends who passed away, which Alibasov could not see, will be immortalized in Moscow on the Walk of Fame. However, not everyone is happy with this. The categorical Vine expressed its negative attitude.
