The series had an unexpected sequel.
The legendary image of the 90s reappears on the screens. But already in an unusual reading.
The sitcom Golden Girls, which tells about four older women – Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia, received an animated sequel. The American TV series has become a cartoon. The five-minute pilot episode has already been released on the IndieWire YouTube channel, Afisha Daily reports. The main characters are voiced by Estelle Getty, Betty White, Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan.
The project was directed by Mike Hollingsworth, who worked on the BoJack Horseman series. The animator hopes that future episodes of the cartoon will last half an hour.
“My dream is to have this show on Disney+ or Hulu. While some of the references may be dated, the comedy and the concepts they deal with seem prescient. Young people are still talking about it and buying greeting cards and quote books,” Hollingsworth told Afisha Daily.
