So sad: While the radio host was presenting at the Glastonbury Festival, Lauren Laverne paid a heartbreaking tribute to her mother, Celia Gofton, following her sudden death.
Lauren began her Instagram post: “I lost my mother, Celia, yesterday. She was the kindest, most compassionate and stubborn person I’ve ever met. Born among nine children, she was a calming and persuasive teacher.
From school to nurse to UCLH, she went on extended tenure to tell about her mother’s life.
Lauren says, “She was over 11 years old and went to high school that changed the direction of our family forever. I met my father at the age of 16 and loved him every day of his life.

“Absolutely Heartbroken”: The 44-year-old host of the breakfast radio show covering the Somerset festival for the BBC shared a sweet photo of her on Instagram with her mother (pictured earlier this month)

Throwback: DJ shared a sweet post about Celia being “the most caring and stubborn person I’ve ever met”.
“He hosted the only night at a reggae club in NE and told me being young in the ’60s was like the phrase ‘dancing under a diamond sky with one hand free’ from Mr. Tambourine Man.”
She worked as a tailor and casino dancer to pay for her education (she also made costumes for the company) and became a great teacher, eventually running all the schools in Sunderland.
Somewhere in the back was my brother and I and we got politicized (a rolling pin in one hand and chasing a BNP one down our garden path in the other) protesting on Greenham Common and eventually a councilman.

Happy Times: The TV star shared a photo gallery of himself and Celia and posted selfies with the heartbreaking message
“He loved helping people, especially those who loved him, and they knew what it was like to grow up without him.
The BBC star continued: “He had watched so many historical documentaries over the decades that when we met historian Michael Wood, they chatted as colleagues.
“She loved children and was the most devoted and adored mother and grandmother you’ve ever seen. But she also knew that mother was both a verb and a noun, and was the mother of many people who needed lifelong love and support.”

Acknowledgments Everyone: He continued the long post by taking his mother’s life out of school to thank those who took care of him at UCLH.

So cute: Lauren says her mom, Celia, is looking forward to seeing Paulie (Paul McCartney) on stage tonight before the tragic news.

Glasto: Lauren, who rose to fame as the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Kenickie in the 1990s, added that her mother gave her children Glastonbury’s allowance shortly before her death.
He closed the post by thanking “the UCHL team who took care of his mother and family at the end of his life.”
Lauren wrote: “At the end of her life, she even made connections wherever she went with the amazing UCLH teams who took care of her and us. Thanks to them for everything.
“We were all devastated to lose him. He had just given the kids his Glastonbury pocket money and was looking forward to seeing Paulie tonight (as his favorite Beatle was always wanted at our house).

Festival: The host was at the festival when the news was announced
“She’s been a fan since seeing him at the Sunderland Empire in 1963 (and later met him with me – it was just too good for him).
“Mom, I love you forever. Thanks for my wonderful life. I have no idea what to do without you but I will try to make it interesting and you will always be in my heart, XXX”.
