Former Gogglebox star Tom Malone Jr told his fans he was diagnosed with autism after “always feeling a little different.”

The 28-year-old, who left the Channel 4 show last year, explained on Instagram that the diagnosis “made sense” but also needed to find out more.

He said: “Normally I don’t write very personal posts like this, but I thought this was important.

“I’ve always felt a little different, a little socially awkward and like I don’t treat things the way everyone else does.

“I finally have an explanation.”

He continued: “I was recently diagnosed with autism.

“Something that makes sense to me and at the same time is something completely new to learn and better understand why I am the way I am.

“Now the journey begins”.

He concluded: “This is for all children who have ever felt misunderstood for being a little different.”

Fans were quick to show their support following her honest post, with one sharing a list of famous people who also have autism, including worldwide hit singer Susan Boyle.

His gorgeous girlfriend, Bryony, commented, “Proud of you for this and I’m with you all the way.”

One follower said, “So nice that sharing your story will help support others.”

Another commented: “I hope this diagnosis helps you understand yourself better. I have three autistic children and have seen the beauty and splendor of autism. There will be tough days, of course, but I know you are not alone and there is a lot of support there. if you feel you need it “.



Tom's girlfriend Bryony said she was proud of him for sharing his news.

Tom rose to fame after joining Gogglebox with his family in the fourth series in 2014.

But he decided to leave the show last year, while his father Tom Sr, his mother Julie, brother Shaun and sister Vanessa continued.

Tom Malone Sr raised concerns among fans last series after coming out with an arm injury.



Tom left Gogglebox last year, but his family stayed with the Channel 4 program.

He told his wife Julie, “Now I have to rest, Julie. Go slowly. I can’t do housework or heavy lifting, they told me. Absolutely no housework, rest my arm.

He continued: “He said, ‘You should relax, make sure you take care of yourself’, that kind of thing.”

But Julie quickly reminded him that “we take care of you anyway”, with “cups of coffee when you want” and “meals brought on a tray”.
