“It wasn’t a good appearance for Will,” Bill Maher said today of Will Osmit’s reaction to Chris Rock’s Oscars joke.
“I was able to show that we were all under pressure and emotion, and I understand a lot of the emotions that were going on, but it had no limits and that reinforced the idea of a joke. They are the enemy.”

“It was like erasing culture,” he continued, “because you could see he was laughing at the joke, right?” This is what often happens when you cancel. From the beginning: “Oh, ridiculous”. Then look around: “Oh wait, I’ll be shocked.” And then there is [subsequent] Excessive reaction. It seemed to revive the Twitter crowd.
The comedian then praised Chris Rock for not reacting in any way and for focusing on the show.
“Chris Rock is a hero here,” he said.
Maher isn’t the only comedian to take a public stand against Smith, who punches Rock for a joke. Jim Carrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Howard Stern and Katie Griffin have spoken out on their concerns over the past couple of days.
Smith, for his part, apologized today, saying, among other things, “I want to apologize publicly, Chris. I was not out of line and I was wrong. ”
