Tonia Buxton admitted she didn’t even know her daughter Antigoni was going to Love Island, but says she will “make us all proud” in a heartwarming Instagram post.

The famed chef and TV host took to social media to wish his daughter good luck after the 26-year-old became the latest bombshell to break into the mansion during Wednesday’s (June 22) episode of the ITV2 dating show.

Tonia wrote: “I can’t believe my Antigoni is at the Love Island villa, she said she will be sunbathing this week. I didn’t think she was talking about Mallorca!

“We are all so excited for you and we know you will be awesome! You’ve always been an island girl, so I know you’ll be fine! “

She was discovered by the boys of the villa lying on a deckchair, the girls running around on the terrace and panting in front of the newcomer.

Jay Younger stopped short, raised an arm in the air and yelled “Woah”.

Speaking ahead of her time on the show, Antigoni said: “I’ve been single for almost a year and a half and for the whole last year my goal has been to have as many experiences as possible.

“I really want to say ‘yes’ to certain things. Why not ? It will be funny. I am a Cypriot girl and I love being in the sun. I have nothing to lose!”

A number of celebrities commented on Tonia’s post, with TV and radio host Kirsty Gallagher saying, “Right behind Antigoni, beautiful girl.”

Many others have posted to send their best wishes, with a caption: “What a thrill for all of you, I’m sure this will make you all proud”.
