Fans this morning were in tears after Shirley Ballas talked about her brother’s suicide.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby hosted the 61-year-old former judge Strictly at the ITV studio on Wednesday morning (June 22) to raise awareness of male suicide.

Phil explained that This Morning has partnered with the charity Calm, which has just launched its new campaign on London’s South Bank in hopes of saving lives.

The London exhibition features photographs of men who committed suicide, Shirley’s brother being one of them.

Speaking of her brother’s suicide 20 years ago, the former ballroom dancer described her brother as a “powerhouse” that “everyone loved”.

The former judge admitted that looking back, she realized there were warning signs her brother was showing.

The former judge admitted that looking back now, she realized there were warning signs, but at the time she didn’t realize it because the subject of male suicide was not sufficiently addressed.

“When I look back now, there were warning signs, there were little comments he made, but I was like ‘Oh, it’s going to be okay’ because you haven’t talked about it,” he said.

Shirley added, “It wasn’t something you came to the forefront and said ‘oh I feel this way’, I wouldn’t even go to the hospital because I didn’t want anyone to know.”
