53 years have passed since the passing of beloved Hollywood star Judy Garland.

The star of films like The Wizard of Oz and Meet Me in St Louis was found dead in her home on June 22, 1969 at the age of 47, just two weeks after her birthday.

His death left fans and show business in shock as many mourned the loss of one of the world’s greatest entertainers.

Judy Garland’s final months have reportedly been marked by money problems, an addiction to prescription drugs, and shows where the star would take the stage for shows that were sometimes hours late.

However, fans were still waiting outside the clubs to see the star, who is one of the greatest musical icons in the world, and his manager at the time, Stevie Phillips, told Closer that his “concerts were always wonderful”.



Judy Garland has spent the last months of her life performing all over the world.

It was also reported that the singer performed several of these solo concerts to pay off thousands of dollars owed to the IRS in taxes.

Her last performance was in Copenhagen, Denmark in March 1969, and the star died three months later.

It was also reported that Judy had a prescription drug addiction that she had struggled with all her life.

He said, “We are very educated about the world of addiction and it is so pervasive in everyone’s life right now, and the stigma has been removed.

“It’s okay to say ‘I have a problem’ and then it wasn’t.”

However, he said the next morning he found Judy slumped on the bathroom floor and the door was locked.

Judy was later pronounced dead, just two weeks after her 47th birthday.

His funeral took place five days later, on June 27, 1969, in New York City, with more than 20,000 people on the street to pay their respects to the star.

An inquiry into Judy Garland’s death was held in 1969 and the findings were reported to Westminster Court in London on June 22 of the same year.

The coroner concluded that Judy died from an accidental overdose and there was no evidence to suggest it was a deliberate action by the actress.

Coroner Gavin Thurston told reporters at the time: “This is clearly an accidental circumstance for someone who has been used to taking barbiturates for a long time.”



More than 20,000 people took to the streets to pay tribute to the star at his funeral.

“He took more barbiturates than he could tolerate.”

The autopsy also revealed several old scars on the actresses’ bodies during their investigation.

In her later years, Judy also allegedly suffered from liver problems, acute hepatitis, kidney problems, and injuries from falls, although this is not mentioned in the report.

However, the coroner’s report found that there was no alcoholism-related liver cirrhosis, despite claims that Judy drank heavily.

Speaking to the coroner’s court, her husband Mickey Deans also explained that Judy didn’t drink much alcohol, saying, “My wife drank very little, contrary to popular belief.

“He left a lot of alcohol in the house, about six glasses, but he drank more than he drank. She wasn’t a real drinker. “
