That is why the “game in the squid” has such bad subtitles and dubbing: there is a logical reason

The last season of “Calmar Games” reached Netflix and placed a point in the history of son Ki Khun – but left many questions from the public, especially those who did not watch the series in Korean.

Competitions about subtitles and dubbing sounding sounded from the very beginning, but now they have reached their peak: the third season has finally convinced that not only individual nuances are lost in the English adjustment – the meaning has been lost.

What’s the problem

  • Subtitles and dubbingnchronization often do not coincide.
  • Many replicas are translated very approximately and lose their emotional color.
  • There are direct inconsistencies and actual errors in a number of episodes.
That is why the “game in the squid” has such bad subtitles and dubbing: there is a logical reason

The maker of the KHvan Don Hyok series immediately advised:

“Look with subtitles. Only then will you hear the real voices of the actors, their intonations and how they live every scene.”

In the original Korean path, an emotional depth is really felt, which is missing in English nasynchronization. Even Lee John-je-the leading actor, has been challenged that calling his game ‘smoothes’ and prevents the viewer from feeling the character.

Examples of inconsistencies

  • The first episode of the third season of Dubbing says there is after the test 60 playersBut in the third episode the same characters explain that there is 25. Both the figures and logic did not bother to coordinate.
  • The character of Kan de-Ho in one episode says: “I didn’t even serve in the army. I never held a weapon.” At the same time we know that he suffered from PTSD after the service. In the original, his replica sounds as follows: “I was in an alternative service. I didn’t even really shot weapons.” It seems to be a small thing, but the context changes completely.
  • In the first season, the replica of Khan Mi Netitram was translated as follows: “I am not a genius, but somehow conceived”. While according to Korean spectators, the original replica sounded completely different: “I’m smart. I just never had the chance to learn.”

What about VIP-Manets?

The strangest situation took place with English-language VIP-AMI. They already spoke English, but Netflix still decided to duplicate them with other actors also in English. One of the artists, Brian Bukko, said:

“This is not my voice. They used someone else, tried to choose a similar one. I can’t say anything bad about it is just strange to hear someone else’s voice instead of mine.”

According to him, some Netflix regions show the original voices, while others are being replaced. Bukko suggested that the case “ensures the unity of sound”, but he himself believes that this should not be. In Tiktok you can really find fragments with original voices – the difference is noticeable.

If you have not yet viewed the “Game In The Squid”, call in the original Korean number with subtitles. Yes, you have to read, but you absolutely don’t have to guess why the hero suddenly contradicts.
