In the history of the horror there are plenty of films that spectators are still fighting – but few cause such a sharp reaction under Quentin Tarantino.
This is about “Texas Massacre 2”The continuation of one of the most influential horror films of the 70s. The first film is yes, De Standaard. The second – according to Tarantino, “stupidity that I don’t want to judge.”
Original “Texas massacre of chainsaw” Tooba Huper was released in 1974 and immediately became a turning point for the genre. The minimum budget, dirty village landscapes and claustrophobia for nausea – all this made the film a real milestone for lasers. The viewer literally felt a sticky panic on the screen, while the heroes disappeared one after the other in a house full of cannibals.

The sequel was only removed in 1986. The script was written by LM Kit Karson (the same thing that worked “Paris, Texas”), and the plot turned into a strange satire: the uncle of the surviving heroine, performed by Dennis Hopper, hunts a leather face after the kidnapping of the radio presenter. The studio tried to combine clearly waste, Fars and Horror, but the result went to an amateur. Despite the cold technology, over time, the second part also acquired a dedicated fan base.
But Tarantino is not included in this club. In the documentary project “History of Horror” Eli Company Director admitted honestly: he really wanted him to like the movie. He respected Karson, respected Huper, waited for something really strong. I didn’t wait. According to him, almost the entire film is a death, the only episode he remembers – a scene with one of the characters communicating with the heroine, at the same time frying the skin on his head.
“I watched it twice when the movie only came out,” Tarantino recalls. “We then pretended we liked it. But to be honest, I don’t want to judge it anymore. And I don’t see the point.”
According to Tarantino’s standards, this is almost a public variety.
Interesting that he is considering the first part with all this “One of the few really perfect films”. But the continuation is in his opinion not resisting any criticism – despite cult status.
