The second season of the Sand Man finally reached Netflix -and one of the strangest, atmospheric and non -standard stories in the superhero -TV in recent years.
This time the show not only adjusts one of the most important volumes of the original comic book Nila Gaiman, but also reasses the structure quite courageously. And although the author is still in the credits, the fans have already noticed it: the comic and the series are in fact two different stories.
The central line of the new season was the bow “Tumanov Time”, in which the Lord of Dreams called Morpheus (Tom Sterridge) tries to free his loved one – Queen of Graf. In the original she was a mortal woman who, 10 thousand years ago, refused him the marriage and ended up in hell before. In the series, their meeting develops differently: the infusion does not hold hell, but a Demon Azazel, with which Morpheus comes into a direct confrontation.
Here are the most important differences between the series and the original source:
- In the strip Nada falls into hell, and it is precisely the conversation with the sister of death, making Morpheus realize his mistake and saves her. After liberation, he offers her to be reborn and she agrees. Their story ends.
- In the series Azazel retains. Morpheus saves her during an open conflict and returns to the palace, where she comes to her senses under the supervision of doctors. There is no rebirth.

There is still an important change. In the original, Nada’s arch did not cross with another important heroine – an old witch called Tessali, extremely unpopularly among a part of the fans. In the film adjustment it was decided to reduce his line and individual plot elements were given to Nadia. Showranner Allan Heinberg explained this by the fact that the structure of the graphic novel is initially fragmentary, and for the series it is important to maintain the focus and pace.
- Tessali It was connected to Morpheus in later chapters of the comic book and played a role in his destiny. It is completely absent in the film adjustment.
- Nada In the new version it receives part of its plot functions, including emotional stress and potential participation in further events.
It is still unknown whether Nada will appear in the second half of the season – the remaining series will be released on July 24. The actress of Umulis Ghiga refused to comment on the prospects of return, but in a fan environment they are certain: if the scenarists have already combined several arches in one, then the story of Nada in the series is much larger than in the original.
