Against the background of weak summer costs and failures of Blockbusters from Studio, Universal was able to shoot.
The new “World of the Jurassic period”, despite the contradictory assessments and the absence of Chris Pratt, raised $ 318 million in the debut weekend during the debut weekend. This is the second result for the entire 2025 year – only the remake of Lilo and Stich started better, which cost 340 million at the beginning.
The weekend of the weekend looks impressive, but there is a nuance: in the US in the first three days the film only gathered 91.5 million – this is the worst result between all parts of the franchise. For comparison:
- “World of the Jurassic Period” (2015) – $ 208.8 million
- “The Fallen Kingdom” – $ 148 million
- “Dominion” – $ 147.3 million
- “Renaissance” – $ 91.5 million
Even the Jurassic Park 3 in 2001 collected more in the beginning – $ 50.8 million, and this is without IMAX and tickets of $ 20.

Universal and Amblin decided to restart the series with a new composition and a new heroine performed by Scarlett Johansson. The producers have saved: the film cost $ 180 million (modest for the blockbuster), and this time the marketing costs were not blown up to half a billion. And it seems that the calculation was justified: the critics did not like it, the fans claim, but the money goes.
Rental leaders at the moment:
- “World of the Jurassic period: Renaissance” – $ 318 million
- “Lilo and Stich” – $ 1 billion is approaching
- “Formula 1” (Apple TV+) – $ 293 million
- “How to tame a dragon” (remake) – $ 500+ million
- “28 years later” – $ 125 million with a budget of $ 60 million
The film achieved first place in the rental of a long weekend in the US (July 4), in which all competitors, including the recent leader Formula 1, who are now satisfied with second place. But next week James Gann will enter the Game Superman-and everything that does not fly in a red-blue cloak will probably fade into the background. So Universal only had a few days to practice.
