The fresh head of the dinosaur franchise was only released and the future has already begun. Admittedly, surprisingly modest.
The director of the film “World of the Jurassic Period: Renaissance” Gareth Edwards admitted honestly: there are no plans for the continuation yet and there are no discussions about this subject in the studio. Apparently Universal first decided to see how the public would respond – and to think whether it is worth restarting the car when stamping blockbusters.
The Renaissance is positioned as a reboot: in the new history there is no Owen, neither Claire nor other heroes from earlier films. They were replaced by Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) and Dr. Henry Lumis (Jonathan Bailey), who go to a distant island to get the genetic material of dinosaurs, such as scientists insuring, to save humanity from diseases. Everything goes not accordance to plan, and the plot, as usual, quickly goes goards “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

But with all the hints of a possible new trilogy, Edwards themselves sounds surprisingly sober:
“We have tried to make a solid, independent film. All my favorite franchises all started so – first a separate film, then a headache: how do you make a continuation?”
He added that he still has not done any conversation or producer Frank Marshall, nor with screenwriter David Kepp, or with Universal about the sequel:
“Seriously, there was no meeting at all on this subject at all. Now everyone just hopes that the film will appeal to the film. And then – how happy.”
It is too early to make predictions. The film has just been released and the audience’s reaction is still being formed. There is public interest: reimbursements – expected above, criticism is mixed, but not overwhelming. On the one hand, the Renaissance has everything to become the first link in the new series. On the other hand, we have already seen all this.
