James Gann was afraid of memes: fans forced him to cut an important scene from Superman

Memes now decide the fate of Blockbuster.

Superman James Gann’s director confirmed that one of the scenes from the early tizer was cut from the final version of the photo. The reason is a flash of spot in social networks. The frame, where Superman flies straight into the camera, with a disproportionately large head, immediately mentioned flashbacks at the fans: in 2022, over exactly the same angle, she mocked in the black Adam, where the rock saw in the air with a serious face over the screen.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, GANN explained that the frame was “technically real”, but was hurried for television and telecommunications – they shot the drone, combined the background and photos of the face of David Torenvet, and this all seemed to be “a bit crooked”. He emphasized that this moment itself would not be in the film itself – but the situation seems that the studio decided to remove everything that could be in a meme in advance.

Gann also admitted that he does not always look at personally:

“I usually strictly follow the fact that I come to trailers, but I don’t always go to television clips. This one has passed me in one way or another.”

The situation is especially indicative against the background of the pressure under which Warner Bros is now. After failing the old line of DC films, the new version of the “Superman” has to save the entire cinema or put a cross on it. This is the first film of the DC Rusted Universe led by De Gann, it will be released on July 11 and has to set the tone for the coming years.

Initially, experts predicted a record start – up to $ 175 million alone on the American cash register during the first weekend. But the last predictions lowered the bar to 90-125 million.

Gann himself, on the eve of the Release of Superman, publishes active interviews, makes the corners smooth and makes it clear nervous. It seems that he has to come out of social networks for at least a month. At least until the premiere.
