Scott has been making great films for almost 50 years and shows no signs of stopping. Fans love him for Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner and The Martian. In 2021, he released two unusual films for himself: “The House of Gucci” and “The Last Duel”, and in 2024 the sequel to “Gladiator” is being prepared for the premiere. Strangely enough, for all his filmmaking achievements, Ridley Scott has never won an Oscar, despite being nominated four times.

Scott’s film taste is impeccable: he loves both epic films like Lawrence of Arabia (there are even references to it in Kingdom of Heaven and The Martian) and black and white classics like Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal.

By the way, without this movie, “Blade Runner” wouldn’t exist: Bergman fans will know exactly where Roy Batty got into the habit of talking and playing chess with his creator. Scott admired the “absolute inventiveness and freshness” of The Seventh Seal.
