Jason Statham names just two Guy Ritchie films that you must see

To most audiences, Jason Statham is one of the last old-school action stars.

He immortalized himself in this genre, starring in “Transporter”, “The Expendables” and “Mechanics”.

But when it comes to the actor’s films that he himself would recommend, the choice surprised many.

Speaking to Collider, Statham mentioned two of his best works: both the first in his filmography, and both directed by Guy Ritchie.

As all fans of the famous tandem understand, we are talking about the crime comedies “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” from 1998 and “Snatch” from 2000.

“I really love the early Richie films I was in. They played an important role in my career. In fact, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like them,” Jason said.

These two paintings indeed marked the beginning of a long and fruitful friendship.

At that time, the director was looking for an actor who could embody the con artist as authentically as possible. Statham, a former smuggler, easily impressed Ritchie with his manner of speaking and slang.

Both roles, the adventurer Bacon and the dishonest promoter Turk, revealed his most underrated talent: comedy. It is ironic that he gained world fame thanks to the opposite images.

Finally, both films are loved by moviegoers around the world, as evidenced by their 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The same goes for the Russians, who rated Richie’s works on Kinopoisk with 8.6 points out of 10.
