Netflix continues its tradition of giving long-forgotten films a second chance, and October will be no exception in this regard – as the platform itself announced, users will be able to watch the action-packed movie on October 1. Released in 2013, even the legendary cast couldn’t save the film from financial collapse – but to everyone’s surprise, the film later got two sequels.
The plot of “Escape Plan” revolves around inmate Ray Breslin, played by Stallone. A true erudite, thanks to his own ingenuity, able to escape from any prison, Breslin develops a plan that will help him get released – he will soon find an accomplice in the person of Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), and the latter, After unraveling the secrets of the terrible prison together with Breslin, the latter will help carry out your plan.
And although the duet of Stallone and Schwarzenegger, as planned by the director, was supposed to at least guarantee the box office success of “Escape Plan”, the hopes did not come true and the film failed at the box office, grossing only $137 million with a budget of 70 million. Critics were also skeptical of the action film, calling it ‘dummy’ even though it became the first project to unite two megastars from the world of action films on screen.
However, Ray Breslin’s story did get a chance – and even two: ‘Escape Plan 2’ and ‘Escape Plan 3’, now with Dave Bautista in the title role, were released in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
